Guest bedroom makeover
Bedroom Inspiration for ORC 2021
Well, guys, it’s official- I am a guest participant in the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge!
In the next 8 weeks, you’ll see the guest bedroom transformation unfold. I envision this project to be filled with DIY’s, bold color, and eclectic style- all on an affordable budget.
But who really knows… I’ve already changed my mind a few times and we’ve only just begun.
One thing I do know is that I have already ordered the Jungalow sheet set and the caramel-colored duvet cover you see in the inspiration board above, so I’m at least a little committed to the overall vibe that (I think) I want in our guest bedroom.
Also, I want to create some sort of textural piece of art to hang above the bed-not too sure what it’s gonna consist of, but maybe some dried florals or something.
I got a little crazy and thought about making new fan blades out of the acrylic I had leftover from my DIY neon light project.
I’m all over the place.
Backstory + A little about me
If you’re new here, welcome. It means the world to me that you are reading this right now.
I’m Kayla and I love to create- always have, always will. I also love helping people create, so I went back to college as an adult got an art education degree. (My husband Walt went back to college with me and we graduated together!)
My blog is a huge creative outlet for me, and it truly brings me joy when readers message me for help on a project or just to say hello,
My daughter, Kennedy is almost 13 and she is the same way. It’s the best thing ever when we can work on a creative project together. I had her pretty young, and for a long time, it was just the two of us.
Walt and I got married over the summer and we just bought our first house! We painted the entire house, along with the kitchen cabinets, and replaced the floors. Now, we just need some finishing touches to bring everything together.

We pretty much have a blank canvas, so I’m excited to give this room a little bit of spice.

I have all the “behind the scenes” footage of the One Room Challenge saved to a highlight bubble on my Instagram page if you’d like to follow along!
I can’t wait to start the DIY projects for this guest bedroom!
